China Masters 2024: Jonathan Christie To Final

Jonathan Christie stepped into the final of the 2024 China Masters after stopping Shi Yu Qi (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Jonatan Christie stepped into the final of the 2024 China Masters after defeating the host's first seed tournament, Shi Yuqi, two straight games 21-17 and 21-16 on Saturday, November 23, 2024, noon WIB, at Shenzhen Arena.

The two singles had a tight competition at the beginning of the first game. However, Jonathan had moved away 6-2 before finally the position was 7-7.

The distance of the score was not far after that until Jojo, Jonatan's greeting closed the interval with an 11-10 advantage.

After the break, the position drew again 13-13, but Jonathan was not stopped after that.

He managed to maintain the advantage until securing the first set even though Shi Yuqi had approached 17-18.

In the second game, Jonathan was almost without a hitch. After 2-2 points, the Indonesian men's singles could not be chased by Shi Yu Qi.

Jojo took the lead in the 11-7 interval and won the match point at 20-13. His move to secure the second set was not very smooth considering that Shi Yu Qi won three points in a row.

Luckily, Jonathan was able to stop China's single point from winning the match.

The victory left Jonathan now at two in terms of a record meeting with Shi Yu Qi, 9-7.

Meanwhile, Jonathan Christie has been confirmed to face the Danish men's singles in the top match of the 2024 China Masters on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
