Korea Masters 2024: Putri KW Harapan Terakhir

Putri Kusuma Wardani secured tickets for the last 16 of the Korea Masters 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - Putri Kusuma Wardani is the only hope left that the Indonesian women's singles sector has at the Korea Masters 2024 event.

The second seed got a ticket to the round of 16 after beating the women's singles China Taipei, Huang Yu-Hsun, with a score of 21-4 and 21-9 at Iksan Gymnasium on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, noon WIB.

"I enjoyed quite a bit of this first match. It didn't live up to expectations either because I thought it would be crowded because of the video I watched. The opponent is a tenuous player and the blow is pretty good," said Putri.

Putri started the first game well. He immediately scored three points in a row and did not give the opponent the opportunity to freely score points.

In the second game, Putri lost 1-3, but five points in a row after that started burying the opponent's struggle. He then continued with nine consecutive points to reduce Huang.

"Shuttlecock here has a slow pace. So, who can hold the front game and control the blow, he will take the lead. That's how I felt earlier," said Putri.

Putri is one of two Indonesian women's singles who played in the Super 300 BWF level event. She took part with Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi.

Unfortunately, Komang had to pack a suitcase earlier than the tournament. The athlete from Bali failed to maintain the advantage of the first game against another Chinese Taipei single, Liang Ting Yu.
