Malaysian MotoGP Practice 2024: Bagnaia Is Back As Fastest

Francesco Bagnaia is back at the fastest in the 2024 Malaysian MotoGP Practice (Instagram/@pecco63).

JAKARTA Francesco Bagnaia returned to the front position in the 2024 Malaysia MotoGP Practice session at the Sepang International Circuit, Friday, November 1, 2024.

The reigning champion overcomes his rival's resistance to the title race this season, Jorge Martin, with a best time of 1 minute 57.697 seconds.

Bagnaia, who defended Ducati Lenovo Team, was only +0.050 seconds ahead of his rival. In this session, both names appeared to insist on competing for the leading position.

Earlier this morning, Bagnaia also performed well in the First Free Exercise (FP1) and finished first. Meanwhile, Martin, who has a chance to lock up the world title in Sepang, actually occupies the sixth position.

Martin actually had the lead in the Practice session after scoring lap time 1 minute 57.829 seconds. However, he even fell at Turn 2 towards the end of the Practice session so that he failed to improve his lap time record.

Completing the third place in this session is Enea Bastianini. Bagnaia's teammate in the Ducati Lenovo Team trailed by +0.198 seconds from his compatriot.

Bastianini rose from adversity during FP1 to finish in front of Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing) and Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP).

After that, the sixth position was secured by Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy) and followed by his teammate Alex Rins who managed to sit in eighth position. Both flank Franco Morbidelli in seventh position.

The two names after completing the top 10 are Jack Miller in ninth place and six-time world champion Marc Marquez occupies the 10th position.
