Shin Tae-yong Ensures That The Indonesian National Team Gets Additional Support From 2 Thousand South Koreans

Shin Tae-yong admitted that the Indonesian national team will be supported by South Koreans in SUGBK (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, confirmed that his squad would receive additional support during a Japanese meeting on the fifth matchday of the 2026 World Cup Qualification Third Round.

The coach said there would be two thousand South Koreans who would also provide support. They are South Koreans who have lived in Indonesia for a long time.

The meeting of the Indonesia vs Japan national team will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, on November 15, 2024. With the status of the host, the Garuda Squad will clearly be more confident, moreover it is certain that there will be additional support.

"On November 15, 2024, around 2,000 South Koreans will be present to support us (the Indonesian national team) in the match against Japan," said Shin Tae-yong as quoted by Nate on Friday, November 1, 2024.

In that statement, Shin also joked that the presence of South Korean citizens would clearly tighten Indonesian fans. You see, they are willing to voluntarily come to support even though it is not their own country that appears.

"Indonesians may be surprised to see so many South Koreans support the Indonesian national team in this match," said Shin Tae-yong with a laugh.

In the upcoming match, there is no doubt that Japan will become a more seeded team. Moreover, in the last meeting of the 2023 Asian Cup group stage, the Garuda Squad lost 1-3 to the Blue Samurai.

So far Japan is still in Group C standings with a collection of 10 points. Meanwhile, the Indonesian national team is currently in fifth position with a collection of three points from the four matches that have been played.

Thom Haye and colleagues are expected to finish third or fourth to fight for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers Fourth Round.

The opportunity is quite open considering that the Indonesian national team is only two points adrift of Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, which are in second to fourth place.
