10-10 Match, Lazio Destroys Como by Five Goals

JAKARTA - Lazio crushed hosts Como 1907 in a 10-on-10 match when both teams were missing a player. In the Italian Serie A match at the Stadon Giuseppe Sinigaglia, Como, Saturday, November 1, 2024 early morning WIB, Lazio won 5-1 over Como.

Striker Valentin 'Taty' Castellanos scored a brace that led Lazio to three wins from the last four matches in the domestic competition. Lazio's only defeat was experienced when facing hosts Juventus. In that match, the Biancocelesti had to admit their rival's superiority 1-0.

However, Lazio managed to beat Empoli 2-1 and then won 3-0 over Genoa. Finally when visiting Como's headquarters, they destroyed the promoted team by five goals.

The brilliant victory brought Lazio into the top five of the standings. Now, Lazio, who has 19 points, is in fifth place. Marco Baroni's team has replaced Juve who dropped to sixth position with 18 points.

On the other hand, Como is still struggling at the bottom of the table. The club owned by an Indonesian cigarette company is ranked 15th with nine points. They are only one point ahead of Venezia who are in the top position of the teams in the relegation zone.

In that match, Como who received support from their supporters were able to put up a fight against Lazio. However, their game started to fall apart after they were given a penalty in the 28th minute.

The penalty was given when there was a melee in front of Como's goal and the ball hit defender Alberto Dossena's arm. Initially, the referee let the incident slide. However, after reviewing it via VAR, referee Luca Pairetto declared Dossena a handball and imposed a penalty on Como.

Castellanos completed the execution well after goalkeeper Emil Audero moved in the wrong direction. The score was 1-0 for Lazio.

The advantage made Lazio even more aggressive. They played offensively, pressing Como's defense. The capital city team's efforts were not in vain.

Just three minutes later, Lazio had increased their lead when Pedro broke through Como's goal. It started with defender Nuno Tavares' action combing the left side of the home team's defense. He then released a cross that was finished by Pedro. The score changed to 2-0 and lasted until the first half ended.

Entering the second half, Como tried to rise. As a result, Cesc Fabregas' team was able to reduce the deficit when Luca Mazzitelli scored a goal in the 53rd minute.

When Como tried to equalize the score, they actually lost a player in the 62nd minute. Midfielder Matthias Braunoder received a second yellow card followed by a red card for the violation he committed.

Not long after, or precisely in the 63rd minute, Lazio had to play with 10 men. Tavares received a second yellow card and then a red card.
