Virgil Van Dijk Is Talking About A New Contract With Liverpool

JAKARTA - Virgil van Dijk has started talks about a new deal with Liverpool. However, he is still throwing a puzzle whether to stay at Anfield next season or not.

There is ongoing uncertainty regarding the future of three Liverpool key players, namely Van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Mohamed Salah. The three players' contracts are complete at the end of this season.

Van Dijk confirmed that contract negotiations had taken place, but were not committed to his future at the club.

"I can say that discussions are ongoing, but I don't know. We'll see what happens in the future."

"My full focus is on Liverpool. I want to win the game that is ahead of me and nothing else," said Van Dijk.

The Dutchman is further that what is on his mind now is to give the best for Liverpool as long as his contract is still there.

"What will happen in the future, I don't know at this point. I can only tell you that discussions have started and we will see."

"I feel very good, physically, mentally and I have fun. Discussions are going on with the right people."

"When it's time to make a decision or whatever, I think you (media) will too."

"However, now full commitment and focus are on Liverpool and to be successful this season. So, we'll see," said the 33-year-old defender.

Virgil van Dijk has been defending the Reds for six years. Since joining in 2018, he has tasted one Premier League title, one FA Cup, one League Cup, one Community Shield, one Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup, and one Club World Cup trophy.
