JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Central Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI), Hendry Ch Bangun, received an award from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) for his dedication as a sports journalist. Awarding at the Presidential Sports Personnel took place on Wednesday 2 October in a series of commemorations of National Sports Day on 9 September 2024, whose peak commemoration coincided with the opening of the PON in Banda Aceh.
The Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo immediately gave up an award at the Media Center room of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Jalan Gerbang Pemuda Senayan Jakarta.
Apart from Hendry, the names of other award winners are the General Chairperson of PABSI/Investment Minister/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, CdM of the Paris Olympics who is also Chairman of Kadin Anindya Bakrie, General Chairperson of PP FPTI Yeni Wahid and other figures.
Central PWI Chairman Hendry Ch Bangun is considered to have played a major role in the development of the Indonesian sports world through journalistic coverage and bookwriting. "I feel proud and honored to accept this appreciation. On this occasion, Hendry also gave a message to journalists to go to the field more to experience the athletes' struggles directly. "I hope that fellow journalists will be more active in covering the field and contribute ideas and ideas for the advancement of Indonesian sports. It is important for us to understand the struggle of the athletes who are struggling to make the nation proud in the international arena," added the journalist who has a long career in Kompas' daily life.
As part of the award recipient and also in the capacity as General Chair of the Central PWI, Hendry Ch Bangun was invited as an honorary guest at the opening of the XXI PON which took place at the Harapan Bangsa Stadium, Banda Aceh (9/10). The PON was opened by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by First Lady Iriana.
