Macau Open 2024: 8 Indonesian Representatives To The Round Of 16

JAKARTA Eight Indonesian representatives got tickets to the second round or the last 16 of the Macau Open 2024.

The follow-up match from the first round of the tournament which took place at the Macao East Asian Games Dome was completed on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, WIB night.

Of the five Indonesian representatives who played on the second day, four of them managed to qualify. The number of representatives who passed and were eliminated was exactly the same as the first day, Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

Indonesia's first ticket today was secured by the Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja pair.

The mixed doubles, who are the third seed, qualified after stopping China's Taipei representative, Chen Xin Yuan/Wang Yi Zhen.

The next three tickets were obtained by the men's singles duo Yohanes Saut Marcellyno and Alwi Farhan and the women's singles Kusuma Wardani.

Meanwhile, the only Indonesian representative to return today is the eighth seeded women's singles, Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi. The badminton player from Bali fell against China Taipei's singles, Lin Hsiang Ti.

Previously on the first day, four tickets for Indonesia were pocketed by two men's doubles and two women's doubles.

They are Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, Jesita Putri Miantoro/Febi Setianingrum, and Arlya Nabila Thesa Manggaran/Az Zahra Ditya Ramadhani.

The representatives who were eliminated were Yeremia Rambitan/Rahmat Hidayat. The couple packed the suitcase early after being beaten by the Fikri/Daniel pair, who were semifinalists of the 2024 China Open last week.
