Hong Kong Open 2024: Indonesia Holds One Final Ticket

Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani will meet compatriots in the semifinals of the Hong Kong Open 2024 (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA Indonesia will definitely have one ticket to the final of the Hong Open 2024 after the two men's doubles passed the quarter-finals and will face each other in the semifinals on Saturday, September 14, 2024.

This assurance came after Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Mohammad Reza Pahlevi Isfahani stopped the seventh seed from Malaysia, Man Wei Chong/Kai Wun Tee, two straight games 21-18 and 21-15 on Friday, September 13, 2024, afternoon WIB.

"Praise be to be able to reach the semifinals. We are happy with our performance at the Hong Kong Open 2024," said Sabar in a statement received from PBSI.

This result is also revenge for the pair who won the 2024 Madrid Spain Masters. They now set the winning record against Man/Kai to 1-1.

In the only previous competitive clash, it took place in the semifinals of the Indonesia Open 2024 in June 2024. At that time, Sabar/Reza lost two straight games.

"Learning from the previous meeting at the Indonesia Open 2024, we lost patiently, lost calmly with them. So, today we are more focused, don't want to give them the opportunity to develop," said Sabar.

In the semifinals, Sabar/Reza will face their colleague Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, the pair who won the Korea Open 2024 two weeks ago.

Leo/Bagas ensured that they had succeeded in reaching the semifinals in three consecutive tournaments after defeating the South Korean pair, Kim Gi-jung/Kim Sa-rang.

"Tomorrow against Leo/Bagas tomorrow will be crowded. We both know that especially as a couple, we have met. Their performance is on the rise, but we don't want to be afraid," said Sabar.

Apart from these two pairs, Indonesia also has a pair Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin who have penetrated the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Open 2024.

However, the couple had already lifted their suitcases from the tournament. They failed to go far due to losing against South Korean third seed Kang Min-hyuk/Seo Seung-jae.
