Canelo Alvarez Ready To Duel Against Conor McGregor

JAKARTA - Mexican boxer Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, welcomed the possibility of getting into the ring and dueling with UFC star Conor McGregor.

In recent weeks, the two names have started to satirize each other. Alvarez also stated that he was ready to enter the ring against McGregor.

"Yes, why not? We've never talked about it. Then we'll show that boxing is better," Alvarez told Boxing Scene.

"It's easy, easy. Money is very easy. (I knocked him out) at the moment I wanted. One round, two rounds, three rounds, whatever I want," added Alvarez.

Canelo Alvarez is scheduled to enter the ring this weekend against Edgar Berlanga. Their duel will take place at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, United States, Sunday, September 15, 2024, morning at 07.00 WIB.

At the duel, the 34-year-old will try to defend his WBC, WBA, and WBO titles in the super middleweight class. Things he might easily be able to do.

Last month, McGregor satirized Alvarez's boxing schedule, which happened to be held alongside UFC 306. The Irish fighter said that the UFC would break the record for spectators beating Alvarez's show.

"Canelo is a person who doesn't have talent. He doesn't make anything close to the pay he wants. Canelo won't sell," McGregor said.

If that duel happens then Alvarez is clearly more favored in the ring. The reason is, McGregor doesn't have any flying hours in the boxing world, except for the only duel against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2017.

In order for this duel with Alvarez to materialize, McGregor needs to return to the octagon. He needs to fight and win to prepare himself against Alvarez.

McGregor has not fought again since experiencing a broken leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. Later he was said to be coming back soon, but there has been no clarity whatsoever.
