Carlos Pena Responds To Persija Jakarta's Defeat Over PSBS Biak 1-3

Carlos Pena admitted that PSBS Biak performed better than Persija (Instagram/@persija).

JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta coach, Carlos Pena, commented on the poor results his team achieved when they traveled to PSBS Biak headquarters. They were beaten by the promotion team. Pena admitted that the opposing team did perform better.

Persija Jakarta and PSBS Biak met in the fourth week of Liga 1 2024/2025, Thursday, September 12, 2024, WIB night. Appearing at the I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, the match was fierce.

PSBS Biak opened the scoring first to close the victory through Syahrian Abimanyu's own goal.

After the match, Carlos Pena admitted that with the pattern of play shown by PSBS Biak from the start, they deserved to win.

"PSBS deserves to win because it appeared with better intensity from the first minute. That made the opponent win the match," said Carlos Pena after the match, quoted on Friday, September 13, 2024.

According to the Spanish tactician, PSBS did show its appearance as a more hungry team and wanted to win. Meanwhile, the Kemayoran Tigers were not ready to anticipate the PSBS spirit so they failed to score points.

According to Pena, in that match Persija was only able to perform well in the first half and 25 minutes early in the second half. The rest, PSBS controlled the match so that they were able to get their first three points in Liga 1 2024/2025.

"We played well for 20 to 25 minutes in the second half until they finally scored the second goal," said the 41-year-old man.

For PSBS Biak, his first win in Liga 1 this season brought them up to 13th place with three points from four matches.
