Persibo Bojonegoro Vs Gresik United Becomes The Opening Match For Liga 2 2024/2025

The launch of Liga 2 2024/2025 was carried out by the Chairman of PSSI Erick Thohir (VOI/Ulfa Gusti).

JAKARTA - PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) as the operator of Liga 2 2024/2025 scheduled the kick-off on September 7, 2024. The competition title is still the same as last season, Pegadaian.

LIB has officially announced its second year collaboration with PT Pegadaian. The sponsorship value is said to be higher than last season.

"The leak is that the commitment of sponsorship this season has increased sharply," said LIB President Director Ferry Paulus.

The start of Liga 2 2024/2025 is scheduled for September 9, 2024. The opening match brings together Persibo Bojonegoro vs Gresik United at 15:30 WIB at the Lt. Gen. Sudirman Stadium.

"Kick-off in Bojonegoro, is a promotional team and will compete against Gresik United," said Ferry Paulus.

The 2024/2025 Liga 2 format is not much different from last season, namely the preliminary round, the last eight, the semifinals, and the finals. Then, there is also a relegation play-off round.

A total of 26 teams participating in Liga 2 2024/2025 were divided into three groups in the preliminary round. Group 1 (West Group) and Group 2 (Central Group) consisted of nine teams, then Group 3 (East Group) was inhabited by eight teams.

The preliminary round is played with a home & away system. Later, the top three teams in the final standings of Group 1 and Group 2 will qualify for the last eight of Liga 2 2024/2025, while ranked 4-9 further into the play-offs of relegation.

For Group 3, only the top two teams of the final standings advanced to the last eight. Then, the 3-8 position to the play-offs of relegation.

In the last eight of Liga 2, the participating teams were divided into two groups. The home and away systems are still in use in this phase.

The number one and third teams from the Western Group will be in the same group as the second in the Middle and East Groups. While the positions one and three of the Middle Groups face the position of one Eastern Group and the runners-up position of the Western Group.

The top two teams in the final standings of the last eight of Liga 2 2024/2025 advanced to the final or Final Four. These four teams will be pitted against three promotion tickets.

Meanwhile, in the relegation play-off round, 18 teams were divided into four groups, of which two groups were inhabited by four teams and the other two groups had five participants. This phase match is played with the home-and-away system.

The top two teams of the final standings of each group will stay in League 2. While the two teams at the bottom of the final standings from each group are automatically relegated to League 3.

For the two teams inhabited by five participants, there is a special case, namely the third-ranked team will be pitted again to determine one relegation team. You see, the rules for Liga 2 2024/2025 are nine teams that have to go down caste.

In total there are 10 teams that will survive in League 2, nine from the relegation play-off and one from the fourth ranked team or the losing in third place.
