2024 Olympics: Fajar/Rian Defeat Against India's Doubles

Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto lost to the Indian doubles (doc. PBSI).

JAKARTA - The men's doubles pair Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto had to settle for qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics as group runners-up.

The All England 2024 champion lost two straight games 13-21 and 13-21 in the last match of Group C against representatives of India, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, WIB night.

Fajar/Rian sit in second place in the group with a collection of one point. The achievement was the result of a victory against the host's representative, Ronan Labar/Lucas Corvee, on Monday, July 29, 2024.

Overall, Fajar/Rian actually won twice. In the first match they defeated the German pair, Mark Lamsfuss/Marvin Seidel.

However, the victory was deemed charred because the German pair decided to withdraw from the tournament due to injuries suffered by Lamsfuss.

Fajar/Rian is Indonesia's first representative from badminton (sports) which ensures that they reach the knockout stages of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Indonesia can still add tickets to the knockout round from the women's and men's singles numbers. In both sectors, there are still Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Jonatan Christie, and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

The three of them will only fight for their place in the knockout stages on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Overall, Indonesia has nine badminton athletes who appear in Paris 2024. However, four of them have already lifted their suitcases.

The representatives who have been confirmed to have died are mixed doubles Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari and women's doubles Apriyani Rahayu/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti.
