Paolo Maldini Is Optimistic That He Will Recover From COVID-19 In The Near Future

JAKARTA - Paolo Maldini hopes to recover from COVID-19 within a week. He was diagnosed positive for the corona virus and was confirmed by Milan at the end of last week.

Italian and AC Milan legend Maldini, who now works for the Rossoneri as technical director, tested positive for COVID-19 alongside his 18-year-old son Daniel, a current Milan player.

A club statement issued on Saturday revealed the two men had completed two weeks of home isolation. They will also remain in quarantine until they recover clinically, in line with Italian medical protocol.

Paolo Maldini posted a video on his Instagram account to thank well-wishers and is optimistic that he and his son will make a full recovery in the near future.

"With this video I want to thank everyone who expressed their love and concern for my health and my child on social media," he said.

"We are fine. We should be able to get rid of this virus within a week. Thank you for your never-ending love.

"I want to thank all the doctors, nurses, health workers, civil protection officers and law enforcement who have faced this emergency with utmost professionalism and extraordinary courage.

"Once again, you make us feel proud to be Italians. Thank you again."

Italy is the country worst affected by the corona pandemic, with the death toll currently reaching more than 6,000.
