After Opening The 2024 President's Cup, Joko Widodo: The More Competition, The Better

President Jokowi opened the 2024 President's Cup (VOI/Ulfa Gusti) directly.

BANDUNG - President Joko Widodo was present at the opening and inaugural match of the 2024 Presidential Cup which was held at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, on Friday, July 19, 2024.

After the match, the President appreciated the holding of this pre-season agenda. Not only that, Jokowi also said that the more and more competitions that were held, the better for the football ecosystem in the country.

"The better the competition, the better in League 1, Liga 2, there will be competitions in SSB, amateur competitions, competitions in FIFA, competitions in AFC, then in AFF. The more competitions the better for a team," said President Joko Widodo after the event at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium.

"Now I see everything is going well. Plus the President's Cup. There will be more competitions, the better," he said.

With a positive response, Jokowi also hopes that in the future the President's Cup tournament can become a routine agenda in the Indonesian football calendar.

"If there is sustainability, it will be better," he said.

The 2024 President's Cup is the sixth edition since it was first held in 2015. At the beginning of the event, Persib Bandung won the status.

Meanwhile, the 2024 President's Cup involved eight participants in Liga 1 2024/2025, namely Persib Bandung, PSM Makassar, Borneo FC, Persis Solo, Persija Jakarta, Arema FC, Bali United, and Madura United.

The eight teams were divided into two groups. Group A plays at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, and Group B competes at Stadium I Wayan Dipta, Gianyar, Bali.

The 2024 President's Cup will take place from July 19 to August 4, 2024. Then, the semifinals and finals will shift to Manahan Stadium, Solo, and compete for prizes of IDR 5 billion.
