JAKARTA The Executive Board of the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (PB Persani) has begun to set a target to get tickets to the next Olympics in 2028.

Persani General Chair, Ita Yulitasi, said that within four years of life, they will work hard to galvanize potential athletes so that gymnastics can return to the Olympics.

"The target must be there and not only one. We will look for good seeds from now on," said Ita when met in Jakarta on Thursday, July 18, 2024.

The gymnastics sport for the first time has athletes performing at the 2024 Olympics, which will take place in Paris from 26 July to 11 August 2024.

The only athlete who left there was Rifda Irfanaluhtfi. The 24-year-old gymnast gets a ticket through the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) Rules.

Ita said that in the near future it will bring in a Japanese coach for orientation and see the potentials of athletes to be prepared for the next Olympics.

"Maybe only the orientation is less than a month, but they will see what the potential looks like. At that time I had been to Japan and they were willing to support it," he said.

Persani recently finished holding the third edition of the 2024 Indonesia Open Gymnastics gymnastics championship. It is an event used to find the seeds of young athletes.

The event which lasted for 11 days was attended by thousands of participants in the five disciplines that were competed. The fees are artistic, rhythmic, trampolin, aerobic, and parkour.
