Marc Klok's Reaction Was Not Called To The Indonesian National Team: This Is Not The End

JAKARTA - Persib Bandung midfielder, Marc Klok expressed disappointment when his name was not included in the 22-player list called by Shin Tae-yong to defend the Indonesian national team. However, Klok was graceful and felt it was not the end of his career journey.

Previously, Shin Tae-yong as the coach of the Indonesian national team had released 22 names of players who would strengthen the team. The summons relates to the agenda of the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, where the national team will face Iraq on June 6 and the Philippines on June 11.

From the list of names circulating, Marc Klok was not included in it, even though the senior naturalized player was often a mainstay in the Garuda squad. Responding to this situation, Klok admitted that he was surprised and had been disappointed.

"To be honest, I was surprised to have to see it (an unnamed national team player list) in the media. So, I would say disappointment," Marc Klok said in a statement quoted on Monday, May 20.

"But I don't give up, especially after performing well with Persib," continued the player.

Despite revealing disappointment, Klok still respects the decision that Shin Tae-yong has made for the team. Instead of lamenting the situation, the owner of the 23rd jersey of the Indonesian national team is determined to improve his performance in order to rejoin Shin Tae-yong's squad on another occasion.

"But whatever the coach's decision, I will respect his (coach) decision. But, I believe this is not the end of my journey with the national team," said Klok.

"I will continue to work hard and focus on my game to ensure that I remain a viable choice for the coach," he continued.

Furthermore, Klok also did not forget to pray for the Indonesian national team to win in the two 2026 Asian Zone World Cup Qualification matches against Iraq and the Philippines.

"I wish the team all the best for qualifying in June. I will support them," added Klok.
