Rizky Juniansyah's Heavy Preparation Towards The 2024 Paris Olympics

JAKARTA Indonesia's flagship lifter, Rizky Juniansyah, underwent a much tougher series of preparations for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Rizky was highly championed to be able to bring home the gold medal from the world's grand multi-branch so that his training portion was increased.

"Indeed, the training was very extra. Previously it was the same, but this is because it has passed so that the training is even more and better than before," said Rizky in Jakarta, Thursday, May 16, 2024.

The 20-year-old athlete qualified for Paris after winning the 2024 World Cup Weightlifting or IWF World Cup at 73 kg in Phuket, Thailand, in early April 2024.

In total, Rizky has won seven international gold medals and three silver medals. In addition, he also set a world record at junior and senior levels.

He collected the gold medals from various prestigious events, such as the 2023 SEA Games, the Junior World Championships, the IWF Online Youth World Cup, the Asian Junior Championships, and the National Sports Week.

As for the three silver medals he won at the World Championships, the SEA Games, and the Asian Youth Championships. This achievement further confirmed it as a new star in weightlifting.

Rizky said that apart from the extra training, he also had to strictly control his diet, drink, and sleep.

He was even always accompanied by a coach when he went anywhere.

"I don't want to waste this opportunity. For the Olympics (Paris 2024), medals are in sight. (Medali) gold is in sight," he said.

Rizki will join the Visa Team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Rizki joined the 2024 Visa force consisting of 117 athletes representing more than 60 countries and 40 sports.

Visa Indonesia Country Manager, Vira Widiyasari, said that his party was very enthusiastic about welcoming the world-class Rizki Juniansyah to the Visa Team.

"We are proud to stand with Rizki on this journey, supporting him as a form of Visa's main values in the world, namely acceptance, partnership, and inclusiveness," he said.

Rizky is one of three weightlifters who have qualified for Paris. The other two athletes are Eko Yuli Irawan and Nurul Akmal.
