Ivar Jenner Doesn't Break Charcoal: There's Still One Chance

Ivar Jenner wants Indonesia U-23 to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics (doc. AFC).

JAKARTA - Ivar Jenner expressed high enthusiasm and hope even though the U-23 Indonesian national team lost to Iraq U-23 in the race for third place in the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

At the match at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, Qatar, Thursday, May 2, 2024, WIB night, Indonesia U-23 lost 1-2 to the Mesopotamian Lion squad.

This result made the Garuda Muda chance to lock up a direct qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics through third place.

However, there is still one chance for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The only chance is through an inter-confederation playoffs against Guinea, fourth place in the 2024 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, on May 9, 2024.

Ivar Jenner could not hide his disappointment. However, he was not discouraged because the last chance was in sight. "We are very disappointed because we lost the match against Iraq U-23," Jenner said.

"This is one of the two opportunities we have. Now we have one more chance against Guinea and that's it."

"We need to win the match against Guinea to be able to advance to the 2024 Paris Olympics," Jenner said. Furthermore, Ivar Jenner promised that he and his teammates would desperately take advantage of the only remaining chance.

Although admitting that Guinea is not an easy opponent, Indonesia U-23's determination to win an inter-confederation playoffs is huge.

"The match (against Guinea) will not be easy. Everyone is very tired and has suffered a slight injury," said Ivar Jenner.

"However, we need to win the match against Guinea," he said.
