Perbasi Get Ready To Welcome FIBA World Cup U-19 2027 In Indonesia

JAKARTA The Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) will prepare a team to be on guard to welcome the possibility of the 2027 U-19 World Championship taking place in Indonesia.

Perbasi Chairman Danny Kosasih said that if you become the host, Indonesia will automatically become a contestant without having to go through the qualifying round as at the senior level.

"So, Perbasi must prepare a team to go there. If it is the U-19 Championship, it will be held in Indonesia," said Danny.

The FIBA international basketball federation on Thursday, May 2, prompted Indonesia to participate in offering to host the event.

The conversation was held between member of the FIBA Central Board, Ingo Weiss, and the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Indonesia, Dito Ariotedjo.

In addition to asking Indonesia to participate in offering himself, the FIBA also confirmed that it would open an office in Jakarta so that it could help Perbasi develop basketball potential in Indonesia.

"We have to welcome FIBA's trust in Indonesia. Cooperation between FIBA and Perbasi will certainly be able to build Indonesian basketball," Danny said.

FIBA's request for Indonesia to participate in the bidding is inseparable from Indonesia's success in holding the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2023. At that time, Indonesia was the host with the Philippines and Japan.

FIBA assessed that holding the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Indonesia at that time was the best. The enthusiasm of the community was considered quite high at that time.
