Vietnam Is Hit By Bad News Ahead Of Indonesia's Opponents In The 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

JAKARTA - The Vietnam national team got bad news ahead of facing the Indonesian national team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. Their mainstay midfielder, Que Ngoc Hai, has a great chance of being absent.

Vietnam will meet the Indonesian national team in the continued match of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone. The first match will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, on March 21, 2024.

After that, it is the turn of The Golden Star to host Indonesia at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, on March 26, 2024. Ahead of the first meeting, the Vietnam national team even received bad news because their squad would not be complete.

The 30-year-old has met coach Philippe Troussier. After the meeting, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) also reported that Que's condition was still worrying.

"Troussier coach from the Vietnam team met with Que Ngoc Hai to assess his recovery. However, according to the latest VFF announcement, the certainty of Que Ngoc Hai to recover is still not guaranteed," wrote Soha VN's report.

Previously, it was known that Que had been absent from several important agendas of the Vietnam National Team, including the 2023 Asian Cup.

In addition, Que is also absent in the last three matches of his club, Becamex Binh Duong FC, in the Vietnam League.

Que's recovery will be a hassle for Troussier, who needs experienced players to face the Indonesian national team. Que became one of the senior players in Vietnam with 76 games plus six goals.

Despite Que's absence, the Vietnam national team will start conducting training camps (TC) on March 12, 2024. Troussier is currently still making his team the best squad before the training camp.
