Europa League Results: Leicester And Leverkusen Lift Suitcases

JAKARTA - Leicester City and Bayer Leverkusen were knocked out of the Europa League after both of them lost to their respective opponents in the second leg of the last 32.

Launching Antara, Leicester, who hosted Slavia Praha at the King Power Stadium, England, on Thursday local time (Friday WIB), were defeated by a score of 0-2 by the team from the Czech Republic.

After a week ago failing to penetrate the Slavia goal and having to settle for playing zero, Leicester again missed the first half with six chances wasted including as if Marc Albrighton could be secured by goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar.

The team made by Brendan Rodgers instead found their goal conceded four minutes into the second half as Lukas Provod's left-footed shot finished Nicolae Stanciu's pass.

Instead of retaliating, Leicester conceded again in the 79th minute when Abdallah Sima fired a long-range shot that goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel failed to anticipate.

Slavia Praha closed the match with a 2-0 win over Leicester to seal their move to the last 16.

In another match that took place simultaneously, Leverkusen hosted the Swiss representative, Young Boys, at BayArena, armed with three away goals despite losing 3-4 a week ago.

On paper, a 1-0 win was enough for Leverkusen to qualify for the last 16, but they lost 2-0 to their visitors.

Jordan Siebatchue broke the deadlock in the 47th minute with a close-range header to give Young Boys the lead over Leverkusen.

Leon Bailey almost equalized for Leverkusen when he pushed into the box to finish Jeremie Frimpong's pass, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper David von Ballmoos.

In the 80th minute Patrik Schik almost kept up Leverkusen's hopes of qualifying, but his header from Daley Sinkgraven's pass was cleared by Von Balmoos.

Six minutes later, Christian Fassnacht sealed Young Boys' move into the last 16 when he converted Marvin Spielmann's through ball to seal a 2-0 win over Leverkusen this time around.
