JAKARTA - West Ham United striker, Michail Antonio, was courted by the Jamaican national team to defend the country in the Caribbean Islands.
This was revealed by officials of the Jamaican football federation, JFF, who claimed to want to bring Antonio to help his country in the CONCACAF zone 2022 World Cup qualifiers starting next September.
"He is a very great player and will add to our quality," said JFF Secretary General Dalton Wint as quoted by Antara from Reuters, Friday morning.

Antonio has been called up several times to the England national team by both Gareth Southgate and his predecessor head coach, Sam Allardyce, but has never made an official appearance.
The 30-year-old striker can defend Jamaica through the line of descent of his parents.
In 2016 a similar offer had come but was rejected, but according to a report by The Telegraph newspaper recently Antonio is preparing to accept the opportunity to wear the Jamaica national team uniform.

Jamaica last appeared in the World Cup finals in 1998 and JFF claims that currently many players are interested in switching nationalities to defend the team nicknamed Reggae Boyz.
"There are some very talented players in Europe who are interested," said Wint.
