Shin Tae-yong Affirms Indonesian National Team Players To Develop Rapidly And Can Compete In The 2023 Asian Cup

Shin Tae-yong believes in the mentality of Indonesian national team players (doc. PSSI).

JAKARTA - The journey of the Indonesian national team in the 2023 Asian Cup is seen as heavy. Moreover, a large number of Garuda squad players are considered young players.

Joined in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup, the Garuda Squad had to fight against Iraq, Vietnam, and Japan to fight for tickets to the knockout stages.

There are many doubts that come to Shin Tae-yong's team. The young talent of the Red and White Team is considered unable to compete.

However, Shin Tae-yong strongly denied it. He emphasized that the player he brought to the 2023 Asian Cup was the best talent.

There is no business with age. Most importantly, according to the South Korean coach, all players are growing rapidly and ready to compete at the Asian level.

"I think all the players are growing rapidly. Our team has talented young players. They develop day by day. Their performance is better than training to practice," said Shin Tae-yong.

Shin Tae-yong further does not really mind the stage fever experienced by his young players.

He further highlighted that his players want to learn and improve mentally to make it stronger.

"It's not easy to indeed play in Asia (The 2023 Asian Cup). The appearance of the opponent is different, but the players have watched all the opponents."

"Talking mentality, all our players have stronger mentality than ever. We've prepared ourselves well."

"Many young players in our team. Indeed, it was quite awkward, but our mentality was stronger," said the coach.

The Indonesian national team will play the second match of Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup against Vietnam at the Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 21.30 WIB. Three points are targets to keep the chances of qualifying for the knockout phase.
