JAKARTA Mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja added to the long list of Indonesian representatives who failed in the second round of the Denmark Open 2023.

The pair failed to get tickets to the quarter-finals after losing against China's first seed, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong 21-18 and 21-9 at Jyske Bank Arena, Thursday, October 19.

So far, Dejan/Gloria have never defeated Zheng/Huang once in the history of their four meetings.

"Even though we lost, we feel our game today is better than our previous meetings. What we plan to do is go according to expectations, especially in the first game," said Dejan after the match.

"We were indeed trying to change the pattern of the game. Yesterday we played with no lob and small balls, but we were stuck. We tried to implement a counter-attack defense and it was quite a hassle for them," he added.

In this latest duel, Dejan/Gloria were only able to provide fierce resistance in the first game. Meanwhile in the second game, they fell behind from the start and could not catch up with the opponent at all.

Gloria said one of the causes of this defeat was the many mistakes she made.

"Today I made many mistakes myself. I can't stand it anymore, that's what I have to evaluate in the future. I have to be more sure," he said.

Dejan/Gloria are one of several Indonesian representatives who have been eliminated from the second round. Apart from them, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan and Gregoria Mariska Tunjung have also returned home.
