Assertive! Shin Tae-yong 'Sprays' Indonesian National Team Players Who Come To Training Late

JAKARTA The Indonesian national team (Timnas) coach Shin Tae-yong was caught scolding the players before the inaugural preparatory exercise against Brunei Darussalam in the 2026 World Cup Qualification.

The South Korean coach looked angry at the players when giving directions before training started at 17.00 WIB at Field A, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, October 9, 2023.

Shin said he was angry with the players because some of them were late in coming to the training camp which was scheduled to start at 12.00 WIB.

"It's a bit [direction] long, yes. However, I have to emphasize because this is a mental problem. [I'm angry] because there are some players who arrive late. In fact, the camp started at 12 o'clock. I emphasize that the promise is very important, just like life," said Shin Tae Yong after training.

The first exercise itself was immediately followed by a total of 26 players who were called by the tactician. The players are given recovery training because they have previously strengthened their respective clubs in league competitions.

Shin did not specify the details of what kind of game will be prepared to fight Brunei later at home. However, he targets to win so that when away his squad can relax more.

"Of course many are curious about what kind of game will be applied against Brunei, but maybe they will see it directly on the 12th in the field," he said.

The Indonesian national team will first act as the host of the first round of the Asian zone qualifiers against Brunei. Five days later the Indonesian national team will undergo the second leg at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Stadium.

If they qualify from the first half, Indonesia will enter the second round group stage in Group F. There, Indonesia will face tougher enemies because of Iraq, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

In the second half, Garuda troops had to finish as the top two if they wanted to qualify for the third chapter. If that happens, Indonesia will need one more step to appear in the 2026 World Cup.
