Hong Kong Open 2023 Results: Hendra/Ahsan Secure Quarter-Final Tickets

JAKARTA - Indonesian senior men's doubles, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan, achieved satisfactory results in the match on Thursday, 14 September 2023. Both of them secured tickets to the quarter-finals after defeating representatives from Taiwan.

Ahsan/Hendra beat Chiu Hsiang Chieh/Yang Ming Tse in 27 minutes with a final score of 21-19, 21-14.

Even though they were finally able to achieve victory, the efforts shown by The Daddies were not without obstacles. In the initial game, both of them were three points behind the Taiwanese representatives.

This lag can be caught at points 6-6 and balanced again at points 8-8. Approaching the first interval, the advantage was on the opponent's side, leaving Ahsan/Hendra trailing 8-11.

After the break, Ahsan/Hendra's efforts still failed because they were behind again by 13-17 points. But with high effort and focus, the position changed from a six-point lead to the Indonesian representative with 19-17 and continued to lead until 21-19 to win the first game.

In the second game, Ahsan/Hendra tried to implement an impressive game by winning 5-1 over Chiu/Yang. This good situation continued in the second interval with a score of 11-5.

The difference of six points gave Ahsan/Hendra a moment to continue to maintain their rhythm while adding points. This is proven by the difference of 10 points at point 17-7. Even though Chiu/Yang's resistance was still visible, Ahsan/Hendra were able to seal a definite victory with a score of 21-14.

This victory led them to challenge Japan's representatives, Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi in the quarter-finals. Ahsan/Hendra's potential opponent previously won a ticket after defeating another Indonesian representative, Pramudya/Yeremia.
