JAKARTA - Lazio Ultras are known for their right-wing political views. Now, this is confirmed by the presence of descendants of the dictator Benito Mussolini in their squad.

Romano, Benito's great-grandson, is currently registered as a player in the Primavera - the Biancocelesti youth squad. His full name, Romano Floriani Mussolini, was taken from his mother's maiden name.

This young man who is only 18 years old plays as a right-back, his interest in politics is very minimal. Told the Adnkronos news agency, his mother was reluctant to comment on his son's choice.

"It is something I would prefer not to interfere with. My son does not want his life or personal choices to be compromised by others," he said.

Romano's only dream was to become a professional footballer. Romano has also played as a center back. He is doing well in that position and will offer flexibility to Lazio in the future.

"He is a humble lad who never complains, even when he hasn't played for two years," Mauro Bianchessi, Lazio youth team manager, told Repubblica.

"I like him. He is not yet an experienced player, but he looks promising. A burdensome surname? I never spoke to his parents, and the only thing that matters is whether a player is worthy of playing. Nothing else."

Meanwhile, Romano's great-grandfather Benito was often present at the stadium when Gli Aquiloti was playing. It's no secret that Laziale is called squadra Mussolini because of the influence of the dictator who still absorbs the minds of the supporters of The Blue Eagle.
