Atletico Are 10 Points Ahead Of Barca And Madrid, Simeone Forbids Players To Be Satisfied Quickly

JAKARTA - Diego Simeone banned his team, Atletico Madrid, quickly satisfied after defeating Cadiz 4-2 in the Spanish League continued at the Ramon de Carranza Stadium, Sunday local time (Monday WIB).

This result continues the positive trend of Atletico, which has now recorded eight consecutive wins in order to establish a position at the top of the standings with a collection of 50 points or 10 points ahead of their closest competitors, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Instead of being satisfied with the victory, Simeone asked Atletico's players to immediately shift their focus to prepare to host Celta Vigo in the next match on Monday, February 8.

"The most important thing now is the match against Celta. In order for this team to continue its momentum, focus from one match to another and develop quickly in each training session," said Simeone after the match as reported by Atletico's official website.

"We need all the players and one thing on my mind is to give their best to meet all the challenges ahead," he added.

Simeone also praised the response of Atletico players, even though he had to lose two important pillars, namely center-back Mario Hermoso and winger Yannick Carrasco who had to undergo independent isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

"In football, you are required to be able to step in sharing the existing situation and that is what we do, try to move forward and continue to develop yourself," he said.

"Today we were without Carrasco and Hermoso, and the players responded very well, giving an idea of how tight the competition is within this squad," concluded Simeone.

Apart from winning 10 points, Atletico also have one saved game they haven't played, so that with half the season on, Los Rojiblancos are clearly in the top position in the race for the La Liga title.
