Winks And Ndombele Late Goals Bring Tottenham Roll Wycombe 4-1

JAKARTA - Harry Winks and Tanguy Ndombele scored late goals when Tottenham Hotspur was gripped by anxiety in the FA Cup fourth round match on Monday local time (Tuesday morning WIB). The Spurs advanced to the fifth round with a 4-1 win at the Wycombe Wanderers.

The Spurs were gripped when Fred Onyedinma gave Wycombe, the bottom of the Championship second division side, an early lead in the 25th minute. Another disappointment occurred when the visitors twice hit the crossbar.

Gareth Bale finally equalized with a gorgeous finish before halftime and Tottenham's second-half dominance finally saw the Wycombe side's formidable defense collapse.

Winks had a shot on target in the 86th minute and Ndombele had an additional goal a minute later. The Frenchman scored again in extra time while ensuring Tottenham progressed to the next round by visiting Everton's headquarters.

Before the match, Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho said Gareth Bale should seize the opportunity to play with Tottenham like other players do, not wait to be given a chance.

Bale has not had any impact on the team after joining Spurs again during a season on loan from Real Madrid. Illness and injury made this player rarely played in the Premier League despite appearing more often on the European scene. He only became a substitute in the 5-0 win against Marine in the FA Cup third round on January 10.

Mourinho made it clear earlier this month that there had been no talk of Bale's future at his club after reports surfaced that Spurs would not renew him.

Mourinho insisted Bale could have played in today's FA Cup tie against Wycombe Wanderers but insisted that every minute of the game must be taken by the players themselves.

"I can't give players minutes to play, minutes to play on the pitch are not things I can give," Mourinho said as quoted by Antara from the Sky Sports page.

"We all know the difficulties he has faced for several seasons, we all know he arrived already injured, we all have a little ups and downs this season," continued the Portuguese coach.

"The most important thing about him is to be consistent, train without problems and when players are consistent in training, high intensity without any problems then the player is ready."

Mourinho concluded, "Not giving minutes to play, but deserving of minutes, and for me that's different."

Bale was named in the match against Wycombe Wanderers and scored a Spurs equalizer to turn things around.
