Civil War, Ahsan / Hendra Steadily Penetrated The Thailand Open II Quarter Final

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles Mohammad Ahsan / Hendra Setiawan steadily stepped into the quarter-finals of the Toyota Thailand Open 2021 (Thailand Open II) after defeating their compatriots, Pramudya Kusumawardana / Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan, in the second round, Thursday.

In a 30-minute civil war at Impact Arena, Bangkok, second seed Ahsan / Hendra ended the match with a score of twins 21-18, 21-18.

Launching Antara, this is the second victory out of a total of two meetings between Ahsan / Hendra and Pramudya / Yeremia. The first meeting took place at the first round of the Yonex Thailand Open last week when the couple nicknamed The Daddies also won two straight games with a score of 21-14, 21-19.

The first game starts with the two couples getting involved in a point battle. But before the interval, Ahsan / Hendra were able to control the game so that they were 11-9 ahead before the break.

The neat appearance of the world number two pair was able to be maintained after the interval. Although they were matched at 16-16, 17-17, Ahsan / Hendra finally managed to close the first game with a score of 21-18.

The battle for points was easier for Ahsan / Hendra when they entered the second game. They continued to lead until winning 11-9 at the interval.

Pramudya / Yeremiah tries to get back at it to reduce the gap. The margin is only two to three points adrift, but Ahsan / Hendra never gave Pramudya / Yeremia a chance to take over the momentum.

In the end, Pramudya / Jeremiah must recognize the superiority of his senior. The second game completes with the same score as the first game, 21-18.

Due to this result, Indonesia has just passed two of its representatives to the quarter-finals of the Toyota Thailand Open. Apart from Ahsan / Hendra, previously there were mixed doubles of Hafiz Faizal / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja.

Hafiz / Gloria managed to win the match against Canadian representatives Joshua Hurlburt-Yu / Josephine Wu with a score of 21-17, 21-18.

Meanwhile, Indonesia must lose its representatives from the men's and women's singles sector. Featured player Jonatan Christie was eliminated in the early stages, while Anthony Sinisuka Ginting and Shesar Hiren Rhustavito were suspended in the second half.
