Lewandowski Penalty Secures Bayern Victory At Augsburg Headquarters

JAKARTA - German League top scorer Robert Lewandoski scored the only goal in the first half to secure Bayern Munich's narrow victory at Augsburg on Wednesday or Thursday morning WIB.

The victory brought Bayern to the top of the German League standings with a collection of 39 points, four points ahead of nearest competitor RB Leipzig. Meanwhile, Augsburg fell to 12th place with a collection of 19 points, according to the official German League page, quoted by Antara.

The foul committed by Sami Khedira against Lucas Hernandez in the forbidden box made the referee award a penalty to Bayern. Lewandowski took the penalty perfectly, as well as to record his 22nd league goal this season.

The Polish forward had several other chances as well as a chance to hit the post, as Bayern were very dominant in the first half.

But after halftime Bayern played more passively, and was punished by a penalty due to Benjamin Pavard's hand hitting the ball in the forbidden box in the 75th minute. Luckily for Bayern, Alfred Finnbogason's penalty hit the post.

RB Leipzig won 1-0 narrowly, which hosted Union Berlin. An additional three points brought them close to Bayern, while Union, who lost their first of seven league games, fell to sixth with 28 points.

Emil Forsberg became the determining actor for Leipzig's victory thanks to a goal he recorded in the 70th minute. Just brought on as a substitute ten minutes earlier, Sweden international Forsberg played a one-two pass with Dani Olmo and broke the deadlock for Leipzig.

Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi made a vital save just before the end of the game, when he caught Marius Buelter's hard shot.

The match between Freiburg and Eintracht Frankfurt ended in a 2-2 draw. A result that did not affect Freiburg's position in ninth with 24 points, but saw Frankfurt drop to eighth on 27 points.

Frankfurt broke the deadlock when the game was only six minutes old when Amin Younes maximized Djibril Sow's cross. Freiburg's hard effort to equalize only paid off in the 32nd minute through a Roland Sallai goal.

Hosts Freiburg took the lead in the 63rd minute when Nils Petersen's volley broke into the Frankfurt goal guarded by Kevin Trapp. But Frankfurt were able to take home a point as Keven Schlotterbeck scored an own goal in the 75th minute.

Arminia Bielefeld grabbed her fifth win of the season by hitting her guest VfB Stuttgart 3-0. A win that leaves Arminia two points clear of relegation playoff Cologne for 15th place. As for Stuttgart, the defeat did not affect their position, they remain tenth on 22 points.

Fabian Klos gave Arminia the lead in the 27th minute, when he snatched a pass from Jacob Barrett Laursen. The two additional goals for Arminia came after halftime. Marc-Oliver Kempf scored an own goal in the 47th minute, before Japanese Ritsu Doan completed Arminia's win with his goal in the 86th minute.
