JAKARTA - Luka Jovic marked his return to Eintracht Frankfurt by contributing two goals during their 3-1 win over Schalke 04 in the German League match played at Deutcshe Bank Park, Frankfurt, Monday morning WIB.

The victory pushed Frankfurt up two levels to occupy seventh place in the standings, while Schalke is still slumped at the bottom of the standings with seven points, according to the official German League website, quoted by Antara.

Andre Silva opened Frankfurt's lead with a goal in the 28th minute before Matthew Hoppe scored for Schalke who equalized 1-1 in the 29th minute. Jovic then restored his side's lead with a goal in the 72nd minute, and he scored his second and the match's final goal in the 91st minute.

Frankfurt dominated the game for most of the first half. Aymen Barkok had the first chance when his shot went wide of Schalke's goal which was guarded by Ralf Fahrmann. Martin Hinteregger also had a chance when he caught Amin Younes' pass, but the ball hit the post.

The hosts finally broke the deadlock midway through the first half. Silva controlled Erik Durm's shot which went wide before unleashing a shot that sank into the Schalke goal.

The visitors were shocked, but they equalized in just one minute. Young Schalke Hoppe received a pass from Benjamin Stambouli, past Evan N'Dicka and Hinteregger before hitting the ball between goalkeeper Kevin Trapp's legs.

Silva was close to restoring Frankfurt's lead just before halftime, but his shot from a tight angle was kept by Fahrmann.

The second half took a similar approach as Schalke kept pace with Frankfurt for most of the game. Schalke had some confidence when Amine Harit shot just wide of the NDicka sweeping ball.

The Eagles then managed to restore their lead through substitute Jovic's first goal. Filip Kostic sent in a cross to be struck for the goal by the loanee from Real Madrid. It was Jovic's first goal in the German League since April 6, 2019.

The two players worked together again in added time to produce the ultimate goal and seal Frankfurt's win.
