JAKARTA - President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Akhmad Hadian Lukita stated that the majority of clubs asked for League 1 and League 2 for the 2020 season to be completely stopped and to replace them with the 2021 season.

The club's request was expressed in a virtual meeting between LIB and club representatives today.

"However, this meeting is not the final decision regarding the competition. Just input from the club," said Akhmad Hadian as quoted by Antara, Friday.

He stated that the club's request would be submitted to PSSI, which will make the final decision regarding the fate of the league and issues related to it in the Executive Committee (Exco) meeting in the next few days.

According to Akhmad, the club's request was based on the uncertainty of the situation they faced as long as the competition did not unfold.

"The league has stopped for a long time, since March 2020 or almost a year. This condition is quite tough, including from the business side," he said.

The Operational Director of PT LIB Sudjarno added that the LIB and club meeting had not discussed the details of when and how the technical aspects of Liga 1 and Liga 2 for the 2021 season.

Apart from waiting for the results of the Exco PSSI meeting, LIB is also still waiting for the Police's permission.

"There must be prior permission so that League 1 and League 2 can be rolled out. Technical and other matters will be discussed later, the important thing is to have permission first," said Sudjarno.

Until this news was released, the matter of the continuation of the League 1 and 2 Indonesia had not yet found a bright spot because the National Police had not given permission to the crowd because COVID-19 had not yet been controlled.

PSSI and LIB had expressed their wish for League 1 and 2 to be screened in February 2021, but the absence of permission from the National Police until mid-January 2021 made this wish difficult to materialize.
