Having A Bad Record At Anfield, Arteta Still Believes Arsenal Can Beat Liverpool

JAKARTA - Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta said he was not affected by his club's poor record at Anfield, and would aim for a win against Liverpool on Sunday 9 April to catch the Premier League title.

Arsenal are eight points clear of Manchester City at the top of the standings, when Pep Guardiola's side will face the basic residents of the Southampton standings on Saturday.

The Gunners have not won a league game at Anfield since Arteta's 2-0 win in 2012.

Under Jurgen Klopp's command, Liverpool have won the last six games between the two clubs with a total score of 22-4.

But Liverpool are currently slumped to eighth in the standings, 29 points behind Arsenal, who just ended their long wait to win at Tottenham this season.

"We have to enjoy it," said Arteta ahead of the meeting between the two teams, quoted from Antara, Saturday, April 8.

"We really have to embrace this moment and do it. This team is very enthusiastic and very positive and we know we are facing a big challenge but a great opportunity to go to Anfield and do something we haven't done in years. That's what pushed this team in the last few days."

"We know what we have to do. We have played in tough places."

Gabriel Jesus' two goals in a 4-1 win over Leeds last week in his first appearance as a starter in the league since November have provided Arteta with an attacking line option.

Bukayo Saka is ready to return to action following illness. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard will likely also appear at the starting XI.

"Right now they are in very good condition," said Arteta.

"Depending on the moment, what we want to do, the quality we are looking for and the relationship we want on certain days.

"Then you can definitely make five changes (over the game), so you have the ability to change the game with those players, which is very good for us."
