Future Of 'Gray' League, LIB Asks For Input From Participating Clubs

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Akhmad Hadian Lukita said that the input from participating clubs was the main consideration in determining the fate of League 1 and 2 for the 2020 season, whether to continue or not.

"We leave it to the club, whether the 2020 season will continue or not," said Akhmad Hadian to Antara in Jakarta, Monday, January 11.

Clubs, he continued, can give their opinion regarding the league in a meeting with LIB on 22 January. On that day two agendas are scheduled, namely a meeting about League 1 in the morning and League 2 in the afternoon.

Later, the results of the activities that were attended by all team owners or management representatives were given to PSSI. PSSI will discuss it in the Executive Committee (Exco) meeting.

"PSSI will determine what the certainty looks like. For example, the results of our meeting with the club, most of the teams asked the league to stop, then it becomes a recommendation and recommendation to PSSI," said Akhmad Hadian.

The news of the resumption of Indonesian League 1 and 2, which have been suspended since March 2020, has not yet been resolved until this news is published.

This is because the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) has not yet granted permission for the crowd because the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet been controlled.

In fact, PSSI and LIB had expressed their wish for League 1 and 2 to be played in February.

The future of the 'gray' league made several clubs such as Persipura, Madura United and PSMS disband their squad.

LIB regrets this condition. However, they understand this.

"We understand because the situation is difficult. Hopefully there is clarity about the league so that the teams can recruit players again. To be sure, at the meeting on January 22, 2021, all participating clubs are invited including those whose squad has disbanded," concluded Akhmad Hadian.
