JAKARTA - Aldila Sutjiadi has achieved another proud achievement. The beautiful Indonesian tennis player won the ATX Open 2023 title in Austin, United States, Monday, March 6, western Indonesia time.

Aldila, who is paired with New Zealand tennis player, Erin Routliffe, defeated top seed Nichole Melichar-Martinez (US)/Ellen Perez (Australia) in the final.

Aldila/Routliffe, who took second-seeded positions in the tournament, won 6-4 3-6 10-8 in a one-hour 28-minute match.

This is his second title on the WTA tour in 2023. In early January, Aldila won the women's doubles number of the WTA 250 tournament titled ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand.

As for Routliffe, Austin's win will be his first title this year. Previously, he partnered with Jessica Pegula to win the Citi Open at Washington DC last summer.

"Grateful to be able to win again, the second this year. Of course, it means a lot and makes you even more enthusiastic about pursuing the Top 30 target," Aldila said in a written statement, as quoted by Antara, Monday, March 6.

Aldila's achievement this week will catapult the 27-year-old's ranking, up three levels to 32 world doubles with 2090 points.

After Austin's tournament, Aldila is still traveling in the US. He returned to partner with Miyu Kato to take part in the WTA 1000 Indian Wells event.

Duet Aldila/Kato targets to qualify for the year-end event, the WTA Finals which are mentioned as only eight of the world's best women's doubles pairs. Currently, the Indonesian/Japan duo is in sixth place in Doubles Race.
