JAKARTA - Indonesia has the opportunity to become a Satellite World Cycling Center (WCC) or a branch representative from a bicycle racing training and training center for the Southeast Asia region. The reason is, Indonesia received a positive assessment from the Director of WCC Jacques Landry.

Jacques himself directly inspected the international standard Indonesian bicycle racing arena, namely the Jakarta International Velodrome in Rawamangun and the Pulomas International BMX Center in Pulomas, last Thursday.

Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Bicycle Sports Association (PB ISSI) Toto Sugito said, Jacques seemed impressed.

"Jacques immediately gave a review of the two bicycle facilities that could become the Satellite World Cycling Center venue," Toto said, as reported by Antara, Saturday, March 4.

Seeing this positive interest, PB ISSI hopes that there will be support from relevant agencies so that the world racing training center, whose main headquarters is in Switzerland, can widen its reach to ASEAN, especially in Indonesia.

"We hope to get the support of the central government and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to be able to make this happen as well as recommendations regarding the possibility of Indonesia being able to conduct a World Championship or World Cup in other bicycle racing numbers," he added.

For Jakarta International Velodrome, said Toto, it has been confirmed that its feasibility is a world-class arena because previously it also succeeded in holding the UCI Track Nations Cup on February 23-26.

Especially for the BMX arena in Pulomas, Jacques requested that the starting gate be developed with a height of eight meters. The goal is that Jakarta can host the World Cup or World Champion BMX in the future.

Meanwhile, Landry said that in addition to the development of athletes, two bicycle racing arenas in Jakarta can also be used for other training such as coaches, commissioners, and bicycle racing mechanics.

"Indonesian coaches must be more and more certified international coaching and implement sport science in all cycling racing numbers, so that with the increase in quality coaches, of course, more and more outstanding athletes will be created at the world level," concluded Landry.
