JAKARTA Borneo FC has officially appointed Pieter Huistra's name as their new coach. This 56-year-old tactician is trusted to manage the team for the remainder of the 2022/2023 Indonesian League 1 season.
The name of the former coach of the Indonesian national national team was announced by Borneo through their official website on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He occupies the position of coach replacing Andre Gaspar.
"By saying Bismillah, we landed Pieter Huistra in Banking City to lift the team's performance," said President Borneo FC Nabil Husien Said Amin as quoted from the club's official website.
Pieter is a former Dutch club coach FC Groningen. In the 2021/2022 season he successfully brought in a club from Uzbekistan, Pakhtakor, league champions and played in the Asian Champions League.
However, before handling the two teams, Pieter was noted to have been the technical director of PSSI and the coach of the Indonesian national team. He got the first position in 2014.
Only that position did he hold for a long time because he was immediately appointed as the caretaker coach to replace the fired late Benny Dolo. Unfortunately, he had not debuted with the national team when PSSI was frozen by FIFA in 2015.
