Klopp's Patience Is Waiting For Thiago To Be Fit Again

JAKARTA - Jurgen Klopp said he was not worried about Thiago Alcantara's fitness problems since joining Liverpool.

The English champions managed to bring the Spanish midfielder to Anfield in the summer of 2020. Thiago, who recently won the treble at Bayern Munich, was bought for a cheap price of 20 million pounds (around Rp379 billion).

He is thought to have had a smooth career on Merseyside, and played quite brilliantly on his debut against Chelsea. However, COVID-19 and injury problems have left the 29-year-old making only three appearances this season.

His most recent appearance was when Liverpool were held to a 0-0 draw by Newcastle on Thursday last week, where Thiago only played 17 minutes.

Klopp believes Thiago will still show his quality, but he is not too worried about waiting for the former Barcelona midfielder to live up to expectations.

"Unfortunately I haven't known Thiago in so long, only a few months. He played a special 20 minutes (vs Newcastle) and created chances, which was his best. He has had only two full training sessions with the team [since coming back from injury)," he said. Klopp ahead of the match against Southampton on Tuesday.

"So we'll see. There is a possibility. He played 20 (minutes) so there was a chance, but I don't even know how to react, we'll see if he can get out of bed or not! Or if he has muscle pain or something like that, "added the German coach.
