JAKARTA The men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin beat Japanese pair Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi to reach the semifinals of the Indonesia Masters 2023.

Playing at the Istora Senayan Stadium, Jakarta, Friday, January 25, 2023 at noon WIB, the 2019 junior world champion won easily in two straight games 21-13 and 21-11.

This will be the first semifinal for Leo/Daniel after the Singapore Open 2022. Meanwhile, this year, their journey was stopped in the round of 16 of the Malaysia Open and round 32 of the India Open.

Leo/Daniel will then meet the Japanese pair, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi. This second seed reached the semifinals after defeating Indonesia's representatives Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.

"The opportunity to enter the final is open. So, who is the most prepared will win. We will evaluate again how to deal with them, but what is clear is that the opportunity for the final remains," said Daniel.

Leo/Daniel had previously met Takuro/Yugo for the second time. From the two meetings, the two partners shared one win each.

The victory was secured by Leo/Daniel at their first meeting at the Japan Open 2022. Takuro/Yugo then responded to the defeat in their second Hylo Open clash in the same year.

Previously, Jonatan Christie had already secured the semifinal ticket. The owner of the 2018 Asian Games gold medal sent India's men's singles, Lakshya Sen in a three-game match, 15-21, 21-10, and 21-13.

Jonathan himself will then face the Chinese men's singles, Shi Yuqi. So far, Jonathan has won 5-4 from nine meetings with Shi Yuqi.
