Minions Can Only Give Up

Mimik was disappointed to appear on the faces of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo when they met reporters after the match against Liu Yuchen/Ou Xuanyi, Thursday, January 26 afternoon WIB.

The Minions have just failed to penetrate the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters 2023. However, they could only surrender because the cause was so unexpected.

One of Indonesia's mainstay men's doubles gave up before the third game against Liu/Ou ended. Marcus could not continue the match due to an injury to the stomach.

"I tried my best but in the middle of the trip there was a problem, so I had to accept it. I also thought I wanted to be forced but I was afraid it would be worse," Marcus said in front of reporters.

"I'm afraid it's torn, I'm afraid it's bleeding. I used to be in Bali, my stomach had blood at the ultrasound. So I think this is also better. I've also spoken to Kevin," he continued.

Kevin couldn't say much either. He said, this was the best decision.

"In my opinion, this is the best decision for recovery first," he said briefly.

The former world number one men's doubles actually won 21-19 in the first game. However, their performances fell far in the second game. Kevin/Marcus lost with a striking score, 8-21.

In the deciding game, the Minions' performance did not improve. They were 6-11 behind when Marcus finally decided to stop. The struggle for 51 minutes finally ended with a bad result.
