France Has A Plan 'crazy', Keeping Didier Deschamps Until The 2030 World Cup

JAKARTA French Football Federation (FFF) President Noel Le Graet has plans to keep Didier Deschamps in coach Les Bleus' seat. Unmitigated, FFF wants Deschamps to last until the 2030 World Cup.

The future of the 54-year-old coach is currently unclear after the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar. The name of their legend Zinedine Zidane appears as a favorite to continue Deschamps' relay, but the rumors have now been ruled out.

"I don't think about the fact that Didier [Deschamps] is leaving. Some journalists want that to change, but I'm not affected at all by this kind of thing," Le Graet told Ouest France, reported Friday, December 23, 2022.

Deschamps has started handling Les Bleus since 2012 and his contract expires at the end of this year. However, his achievements so far have allowed him to have the trust to continue his work.

During France, the captain of the 1998 FIFA World Cup winning team led his country to win the 2018 World Cup and to the final in 2022. He also led the team to the 2016 European Cup final when they lost to Portugal.

Le Graet said Deschamps had done his job well and had priority. Therefore, he thinks everyone in the federation will definitely agree to keep the coach.

"Why not 2030? We will spend time together to talk a little about what happened in Qatar and what it wants and how we consider the 2024 European Cup," he said.

"If he doesn't want to stay, the conversation will be very brief. If he wants to stay, there will be longer discussions. If possible we can get this done before the end of the year," he added.

France failed to defend the World Cup trophy after losing on penalties to Argentina in the top match at the Lusail Stadium, last Sunday, December 18. This defeat is predicted to make Deschamps lay down his position.

However, if he survives, Deschamps will lead France in the next fixture against the Netherlands on March 24 next year. It was a qualifying match for the 2024 European Cup.
