Looking For The Successors Of Murdaya Po's Struggle To Advance Indonesian Golf

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Golf Association (PGI) will hold a National Conference (Munas) at Intercontinental Jakarta Pondok Indah, Jakarta, on 20-21 February 2023.

The main agenda for the National Conference later is to find a new general chairman to replace Murdaya Widyawimarta Po. The figure has been in the position for two terms.

PGI National Conference Organizer Agus Suhartono said this activity should have rolled out in 2022. However, because in 2019 the COVID-19 pandemic delayed several activities, as well as in 2020 and 2021.

"So that there are very few PB PGI activities," Agus said, as quoted from Antara, Wednesday, December 21.

According to Agus, 2022 has a busy schedule where there are 12 tournaments that Indonesian athletes will participate so that PB PGI writes to the National Sports Committee (KONI) to complete management programs for the 2018-2022 period.

"In August 2022, we PB PGI asked KONI that the National Conference schedule be postponed to 2023 and KONI agreed," said Agus, who is also the deputy chairman of PB PGI for the 2018-2022 period.

The Penjaringan and Screening Team for the general chairmanship of PB PGI for the period 2023-2027 has also been formed. Agus said this team had held a meeting to formulate the conditions that must be met for the next period of PB PGI general chairman candidate.

The criteria and administrative requirements that must be completed by the prospective general chairman of PB PGI are the administrators or have been administrators of the Central PGI, Pengprov, Pengkab, City Government, Club Management, Golf Course, and Training Facility at the central and regional levels.

In addition, it is also proposed in writing a minimum of six provincial PGI signed by the chairman of the Pengprov where each Pengprov can only propose one candidate's candidate name.

In addition, he is also willing to be nominated as general chairman of PB PGI, deliver a brief life history, are willing to convey his vision and mission as a candidate for chairman of PB PGI in front of the PGI National Conference, and Indonesian citizens as evidenced by the identity of the Identity Card (KTP).

According to the Family Card (KK) domiciled in Jabodetabek. The candidate for general chairman of PB PGI is also not currently a suspect in a criminal case, willing and ready to provide full time as chairman.

"Then they are willing to obey and carry out the AD / ART and regulations of the PGI organization, and must attend the election of the general chairman of PB PGI," said Agus.

Will the general chairman of PB PGI be able to submit the required documents on February 1-10. "For our requirements, we have socialized and form formats starting today. One month and a half, I think it is enough for prospective candidates to seek support from six provinces," said Agus.

PB PGI National Conference participants were attended by 28 PGI Provincial Pengprov, 109 PGI Regency/Pengkot and 321 clubs. "Of course we will verify for upcoming National Conference participants. Because there are several Pengprov, Pengkab/Pengkot, and inactive clubs. We will monitor it. So that their activity is not only ahead of the National Conference," said Agus.

Meanwhile, Murdaya Po hopes that the elected chairman of PGI will be able to continue the program and bring better Indonesian golf.

"I have served as general chairman of PGI. Winning in two years this management is not optimal (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). My hope is that in the future our program can be continued and improved. Because the program we are doing has produced tangible results," said Murdaya.

In accordance with the Articles of Association/Household Budget, Murdaya Po can no longer run for general chairman of PGI because he has served for two terms. In the National Conference later, there will also be the delivery of accountability for the management of PB PGI for the 2018-2022 period.
