JAKARTA David Beckham and Diego Simeone were seen as familiar on Instagram social media despite being enemies at the 1998 World Cup in France.

The two names were seen taking a group photo after Argentina's victory over France in the Qatar 2022 World Cup final last Sunday. Beckham uploaded the portrait and Simeone responded.

"Congratulations, my friend Simeone," Beckham congratulated La Albiceleste for winning their first title since 1986.

The upload was then shared again by Simeone on his Instagram Story. "Always happy to meet you," wrote the Atletico Madrid coach in response to Beckham's upload.

Before getting along like now, Simeone and Beckham were involved in a dispute in the round of 16 of the 1998 World Cup. Beckham was even given a red card in that super fierce match.

It all started with Simeone hitting Beckham from behind when he grabbed the ball in the middle of the field. Beckham fell and referee Kim Nielsen immediately blew and ready to beat Simeone with a yellow card.

However, the incident became long after Beckham, who was lying on his stomach on the ground, lifted his leg to tackle Simeone. The clashes were actually minimal, but Simeone immediately fell.

While on the ground he also accused Beckham and his actions were also provoked by Juan Veron. As a result, referee Kim Nielsen issued a red card to expel the husband from Victoria Beckham.

The match ended with a score equal to 2-2 for 120 minutes. Argentina then got a ticket to the quarter-finals after winning with a score of 4-3 in the penalty shootout round.
