Update On Pele's Health Condition: You Haven't Been Able To Get Out Of The Hospital Even Though You're Better

JAKARTA - Brazilian football legend Pele is being treated at a hospital in Sao Paolo. He has been in hospital since November 29 as a team of doctors wanted to re-evaluate the legend's treatment.

Pele has been undergoing chemotherapy since surgery to remove a colon tumor in September 2021. The doctor also diagnosed him with respiratory infection.

Now Pele's health continues to improve. However, it is not known the exact schedule for the former Santos to be discharged from the hospital.

"No date has yet been set to leave the hospital, but the patient's clinical condition continues to improve, especially respiratory infections," the hospital said in a statement, as reported by Antara via AFP.

"He remains in the standard room, conscious and with stable vital signs," the statement continued.

Putri Pele Kely Nascimento and Flavia Arantes have tried to convince fans of her father's health. She has also denied reports that Pele has been placed in a life-end treatment room.

Nascimento, who lives in the United States, posted a pair of photos from the hospital on Instagram on Monday, December 12, including one of his hands holding his father's hand, with the message: "I arrived."

Pele, whose real name is Edson Arantes do Nascimento, has scored more than 1,000 goals in one of the most historic careers in sport. He is the only player in history to win three World Cups (1958, 1962 and 1970).

Pele has been in a fragile health condition in recent years, and his public appearance has become increasingly rare. But he remains active on social media.

He regularly posts online during the World Cup, including a message of support for Brazil's current star Neymar after "Selecao" was knocked out of the tournament in Qatar in a quarter-final defeat to Croatia on Friday.

"Continue to inspire us," Pele told the 30-year-old Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker, who equaled his 77-goal record for Brazil during the game.
