Anthony Joshua Is In The Middle Of A Plan To Face Otto Wallin

JAKARTA - heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua (AJ) is reportedly in discussions to arrange the fight against Otto Wallin.

Dmitriy Salita as the promoter of Wallin admitted that he had spoken to Eddie Hearn who was the promoter of Anthony Joshua regarding this fight plan.

"I discussed with Eddie [Hearn] about [the fight against] Otto for a long time and until last week," he told The Sun, quoted by Livescore.

"From what I understand, it really depends on Anthony Joshua. I believe he wants to fight again in the heavyweight class," added Salita.

Joshua is currently experiencing a significant decline in the heavyweight division following a successive defeat against Oleksandr Usyk. In total he only collected two wins from his last five fights.

After the last two defeats, Joshua was actually challenged by Tyson Fury, but the duel was canceled. The reason is, Joshua did not sign the contract until the deadline set by Fury's team.

However, Joshua is still associated with heavyweight opponents Fury and Deontay Wilder. It's just that fighting Wallin is now the next most potential challenge.

"Both Otto [Wallin] and AJ want to fight Fury. I believe the winner of the fight will have legitimate claims to challenge Fury, who may have been after his fight with Oleksandr Usyk," Salita said.

Joshua last got into the ring on August 20 against Usyk in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At that time he lost a 12-round battle and failed to reclaim the IBO, IBF, WBA, and WBO world title belts which were released from his hands in the first match, September 2021.
