JAKARTA - Not only his fellow professionals or compatriots who defended Lionel Messi, but also boxers like Yordenis Ugas who were disappointed with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's reaction to La Pulga.

Canelo was angry after seeing a video showing Messi kicking a little Mexican shirt on the dressing room after El tri's game against Albiceleste which ended 2-0 for Messi et al's win.

"May he ask God not to meet me!" Canelo tweeted on Twitter's social media.

"Just as I respect Argentina, you have to respect Mexico! I'm not talking about the country (Argentina) I'm talking about Messi about what he's doing."

All of these voices are now followed by former Cuban boxing champion Yordenis Ugas, who recognizes Canelo as one of today's greatest fighters, but regrets his reaction.

"You are the greatest representation of boxing and Latin. Especially, many of us see you as a reflection of respect, victory, and professionalism. Such behavior is disappointing. We expect more from you, champions. Look at all of his T-shirts on the floor after the game," he replied in a message on the social network.

After attacking Canelo, he highlighted Messi and praised what the Mexican and Argentine teams showed on the pitch on Saturday, when Albiceleste won 2-0.

"Messi is an honorable man, he has never made fun of any rivals and even a nation of fighters like Mexico. It was a disputed match that the best team won. Fans fought each other for no reason, told me if a star like you put pepper on it. Both countries have great fans.
