Son Heung-min Becomes South Korea's Best Footballer For The Fifth Time

JAKARTA - Striker Son Heung-min has been named the best footballer in South Korea (South Korea). This award is the fifth for Son.

Quoting Antara, the Korean Football Association (KFA) announced that Son, who is at the forefront of Tottenham Hotspur, was selected as the best men's footballer in 2020.

Previously, Son received the award after 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2019, so that the total was winning two awards from Ki Sung-yueng who played for FC Seoul and won this award for the 2011, 2012 and 2016 editions.

Son received 250 voting points from the media and the KFA election committee, well ahead of Jeonbuk Hyundai midfielder Son Jun-ho who had 163 points and Suwon FC forward An Byong-jun who had 33 points.

This award is open to all South Korean born players regardless of club.

Son is entering his sixth year with Tottenham Hotspur. He has scored 13 goals and seven assists until the 2020-2021 season, including 10 goals in the Premier League or the second most after Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Everton.

Last October he was also named Premier League player of the month.

The 28-year-old is captain of the South Korean national team and played a pivotal role against Mexico and Qatar in friendlies last month.
