PSSI General Chair Mochamad Iriawan said Dutch footballer Shayne Pattynama was not registered with the 2022 AFF Cup because the naturalization process had not been completed.

"Shayne hasn't yet, only Sandy Walsh and Jordi Amat," said Iriawan at the DKI Jakarta Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Jakarta, Thursday, quoted by Antara.

According to the man who is familiarly called Iwan Bule, Shayne's naturalization is predicted not to be completed until the deadline for signing a large number of players registration (maximum 70 names) for the 2022 AFF Cup, namely on November 20, 2022.

Shayne, a 24-year-old player who strengthens thelank FK in the Norwegian League, is known to have just received approval to change his citizenship to become an Indonesian citizen from the Indonesian House of Representatives on Thursday (17/11), through a plenary meeting.

Furthermore, the Dutch footballer still has to wait for a Presidential Decree (Keppres) of the Republic of Indonesia which states that the Government of Indonesia has agreed to give Indonesian citizens to him.

Then, if the Presidential Decree has been issued, Shayne must take the oath of allegiance as an Indonesian citizen at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

In comparison, Sandy Walsh and Jordi Amat took almost two months from the approval of the DPR RI plenary meeting (20 September 2022) to the process of extending the oath as an Indonesian citizen (17 November 2022).

However, even when he became an Indonesian citizen, both Shayne, Sandi and Jordi could not immediately defend the Indonesian national team before changing the organization's federation from PSSI.

"The transfer of the federation is a requirement for FIFA to be fulfilled," said Iriawan.

The 2022 AFF Cup will be held on December 20, 2022-16 January 2023. In that tournament, the Indonesian national team is in Group A with defending champions Thailand, the Philippines, Cambodia and Brunei Darussalam.

PSSI targets Indonesia to become the champion of the 2022 AFF Cup. If it succeeds in obtaining this achievement, the title will be the first in history for the "Garuda" squad.
